| Fort Palmetto is a historic artillery battery located in Hamlin Sound, Charleston County, South Carolina. Today, the ruins of Fort Palmetto are a tranquil, overgrown wasteland surrounded by a marshy, grassy fort and a muddy moat. For the past two centuries, its only battle has been with the Atlantic Ocean, where it succumbed to the encroaching tides and rose again triumphantly when the tide receded. | |
